Favorite aspects of the product:
Freedom of movement is the name of the game with the Marmot Surge Pants. There is no restriction, the pants felt fully free to stretch with every move. With 17% Elastane Plain Weave added to polyester these pants allow me to scramble around the trails of the White Mountains of New Hampshire or head out for a run at Sleeping Giant State Park. I feel like I can move around anywhere and not have to worry about my pants restricting my movements. Another aspect of the Surge Pants that I really like is how soft they feel. When compared to other polyester pants they are softer to the touch.

The Surge Pants are very breathable, quick drying, and wicking. When I’m out on a run or hiking up a mountain I don’t feel my legs getting all hot and sweaty. Yet, they were able to keep my legs warm in the cooler fall temperatures and stood up to some wind at the summit of Mt. Potash in New Hampshire. It is an added bonus that they are UPF 30 meaning they only allow 1/30th of the sun’s UV rays from passing through the fabric.

Being a 5’9″ female with a longer frame I decided to get the men’s in a small. The length is great and fits well with hiking boots. There are ankle zippers to let you take the pants on and off with boots on if you are using them as an outer layer. The ankle zips can also be opened to increase air ventilation.
